General Manager, RCM Medical Billing

Position Overview We are seeking a proactive and experienced professional to lead our RCM Billing Operations. The Director will develop strategies to maximize revenue, minimize financial risks, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and enhance operational efficiency. This role requires a strong leader with deep expertise in healthcare finance, billing systems, and medical coding, combined with excellent communication, management and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, team leadership capabilities, and a collaborative mindset to work closely with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners. Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership

• Develop and execute the vision, strategy, and operational plans for the RCM department. Supervise billing teams including supervisors and billers; provide mentorship and leadership to ensure consistent performance.
• Develop and implement staffing strategies aligned with department goals; participate in hiring, onboarding, and succession planning to ensure the billing team can support future expansion and evolving business needs.
• Monitor and track team KPIs; implement strategies to enhance productivity, quality, and client satisfaction.
• Conduct periodic training sessions to upskill billing staff and stay updated on regulatory, payer, and system changes. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific billing requirements, regulations, and healthcare standards
• Prepare, maintain, and continuously improve training materials for onboarding and ongoing staff

development to standardize operations and improve efficiency. Client Engagement & Account Management

• Serve as a primary point of contact for client billing-related queries and escalations.
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Participate in regular billing health reviews with clients to ensure financial metrics and service expectations are met.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, practice administrators, and external partners.
• Identify and drive improvement in account health KPIs such as AR days, denial rates, and clean claims ratio.
• Support sales team in client demos and provide training for new clients, as needed.

Analysis & Strategic Improvement Planning

• Analyze trends across payors, specialties, codes, and geographies to uncover patterns and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with the RCM Tech team to propose, test, and implement innovations that streamline billing processes.
• Work cross-functionally with other internal teams including Support, Implementation, and Compliance to ensure seamless service delivery.

Vendor & External Relations

• Coordinate with key vendors such as clearinghouses to stay informed about product changes, outages, and improvements.
• Act as the relationship manager for key third-party billing infrastructure providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in medical billing or RCM, with at least 2 years in a leadership /management role.
• Strong understanding of CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes, payer rules, and reimbursement processes.
• Experience with clearinghouses, EHR, and PM systems (ModuleMD experience is a plus).
• Tech-savvy with a strong interest and experience in AI applications in medical billing and a passion for leveraging emerging technologies to drive efficiency, accuracy, and innovation in RCM operations.
• Exceptional analytical skills and proficiency in Excel or BI tools for trend analysis and KPI tracking.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
• Proven experience managing remote or geographically distributed billing teams. Strong cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills.
