SummaryThe Clinical Documentation Educator will be impetus of Clinical Documentation improvement, providing clinical documentation to physician and non-physician providers and staff while using relevant clinical documentation data. This position serves multiple purposes including (but not limited to): improved quality, enhanced reimbursement, denial reduction and improved patient care.Responsibilities
- Provide continuous, on-going clinical documentation education to physician providers and non-physician providers.
- Provide continuous, on-going clinical documentation education to clinical documentation staff.
- Continuous oversight of clinical documentation staff, validating work.
- Continuous review and organization of clinical documentation data, driving education need.
- Organization and active participation in clinical documentation improvement work groups for the purposes of strategic planning and process improvement.
- Creating resources for presentation during clinical documentation education programs.
- Orient all onboarding clinical documentation staff.
- Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list.
- Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
- CDI experience is highly preferred
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification is highly preferred.
- BSN or Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
- Valid Florida RN license is required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
