Title: Weekend Freelance Commerce Writer Employment Type: Freelance Location: Remote USA First Look-Weekend Freelance Commerce Writer The Arena Group is seeking a Weekend Freelance Commerce Writer to contribute to our daily commerce content across our portfolio of brands, including TheStreet, Parade, Men’s Journal, Autoblog and more. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating commerce content for a range of lifestyle topics, including but not limited to home and garden, consumer electronics, men’s and women’s style, pets, automotive accessories and tools. Responsibilities will include pitching daily stories to the commerce editors, writing new stories, and updating/optimizing evergreen content. The ideal candidate has experience writing commerce content in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, specifically with sourcing and writing about compelling deals. This is a freelance position with competitive hourly rates commensurate with experience. Our expected hourly pay rate is $25 - $35 per hour. Minimum availability required is from Thursday through Sunday. Please note: Due to the volume of applications we receive, only applicants selected for consideration will be contacted. What You’ll Do:
- Pitch daily to the commerce editorial team
- Write 3+ commerce stories a day with the ability to pivot quickly if a more pressing priority arises
- Monitor daily news/deals cycle and flag commerce opportunities
- Update and optimize existing stories with fresh info to keep commerce content up-to-date and useful for readers
- Work closely with team members on tentpole events like Prime Day and Black Friday/Cyber Monday
- Build articles in the CMS cleanly and with commerce best practices in mind
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience writing high-quality commerce content that delivers service and value to readers
- Extensive experience creating deals content with a track record of driving revenue and audience engagement
- Knowledge of digital content best practices, like SEO, AP Style, and analytics
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Collaborative and team-oriented
- Ability to write fast, without compromising accuracy, brand integrity, or voice
- A sense of fun, urgency, and a can-do attitude
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism/related field or a portfolio of published work
