About the position The Software Development Manager for Global Demand and Operations at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is responsible for leading a team of engineers in delivering high-quality software solutions. This role involves managing the execution of software deliverables, mentoring team members, and driving project schedules from design to release. The manager will coordinate technical design efforts across multiple teams and ensure that projects meet business and customer needs while fostering a culture of ownership and quality within the engineering team. Responsibilities • Lead and grow an engineering team that builds, experiments, operates, and maintains software to meet business and customer needs. , • Hire, coach, and mentor team members. , • Manage day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment. , • Deliver quality applications on time. , • Own all operational metrics and support. , • Report on development status, quality, operations, and system performance to leadership. , • Evolve software engineering practices within the organization, including reporting and development methodology. , • Work closely with engineers to architect and develop optimal technical designs. , • Drive recruiting and hiring of senior engineers and conduct performance reviews. , • Create and execute quality plans, project plans, and test strategies for development activities. , • Communicate with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements and describe software features. Requirements • 3+ years of engineering team management experience. , • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams. , • 3+ years of experience designing or architecting systems for reliability and scaling. , • Knowledge of engineering practices for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle. , • Experience partnering with product or program management teams. , • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent. , • Prior experience working with AWS technologies/services. Nice-to-haves • Experience in communicating with users and other technical teams. , • Experience in recruiting and mentoring software engineers.
