Class A Transport Driver Job Summary of Class A Transport Driver: You are essential in securing the timely pickup, marking, transportation, and delivery of shipments. You will be behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer unit to transport goods to and from client sites, utilizing Material Handling Equipment for the effective loading and unloading of freight. This function encompasses a mix of driving duties and manual work, mandating a CDL license and HazMat accreditation, in addition to a focus on safety, productivity, and customer service. This role is rapid-paced and may necessitate flexibility in working different shifts, including days, nights, and weekends. Job Duties and Responsibilities of Class A Transport Driver: • Utilize the appropriate equipment to collect, mark, and transport packages according to UPS policies and procedures. • Transport a trailer unit to several customer locations and return to the original site in one driving shift. • Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE), such as pallet movers and stand-up forklifts, for the loading and unloading of palletized merchandise. • Carry out the procedures of shipping, collecting, scanning, grouping, and replenishing parcels. • Provide safe and timely deliveries to both residential and commercial establishments. • Make sure to observe safety guidelines when transporting items and handle packages securely. • Comply with the UPS appearance guidelines by dressing in the uniform that has been issued. • Ability to pick up and transport items weighing up to 70 pounds as specified for the role. • Enhance customer satisfaction by delivering orders promptly and accurately. • Stay flexible with your working hours, including weekends, to meet the demands of the job. Qualifications and Experience of Class A Transport Driver: • It is necessary to have an official CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) from your state of domicile. • HazMat endorsement required. • Must pass a UPS road test, DOT physical (including a drug screen), and all necessary background checks. • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. • Acquired knowledge and skills in operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including pallet movers and forklifts, through hands-on practice. • Dedicated to upholding safety standards and following delivery protocols. • Ability to handle flexible working hours, such as weekends, nights, and public holidays if necessary. • Following UPS’s guidelines for appearance and uniform standards is essential for all employees. • Proven track record of exceptional customer service paired with a priority on timely package arrivals. • Individuals applying must meet the requirement of either being a U.S. Citizen, National, or having the necessary work authorization in the United States.
