Position Overview
arenaflex is seeking a skilled and motivated CDN Content Distribution Engineer to join our Media Engineering organization. This role is part of our Delivery Engineering team, which develops and maintains CDN configurations for all content delivery networks within the arenaflex Distribution Grid. As a fully remote position based in the United States, this opportunity offers the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to high-impact projects at the forefront of digital media technology.
The Content Distribution Engineer specializes in caching technologies, distributed networking, and operational expertise in CDN edge services. Key Responsibilities
- CDN Architecture and Management: Design, configure, and manage CDN setups across the entire arenaflex Distribution Grid, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability for all content delivery operations.
- ISP Network Coordination: Effectively manage OpenCache networks with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) worldwide, maintaining strong partnerships and ensuring seamless content delivery across diverse geographic regions.
- Performance Analysis and Optimization: Conduct thorough reviews of performance metrics across the caching infrastructure, collaborating closely with operations and performance management teams to identify and implement continuous improvements.
- Daily Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the arenaflex Distribution Grid, ensuring smooth functionality, minimal downtime, and proactive issue resolution.
- Tooling Development: Participate in the development of internal tools and automation to integrate third-party CDNs into a unified control plane, streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency.
- Incident Management and Escalation: Serve as the functional management contact for CDN support, actively managing incidents through clear and effective communication with CDN support teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with operations and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve caching issues, ensuring optimal content delivery performance.
- Level 3 On-Call Support: Provide Level 3 on-call assessment, escalation, and support during critical incidents, demonstrating technical expertise and composure under pressure.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) required in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience managing caching solutions, preferably within a Content Distribution Network (CDN) environment.
- Demonstrated experience working in Content Distribution Network operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of CDN provider architectures, frameworks, and configurations.
- Proven ability to perform network troubleshooting and diagnose complex issues.
Technical Proficiencies
The ideal candidate will possess working knowledge in the following areas:
- Networking Protocols: HTTP, DNS, and web architecture fundamentals.
- Caching Technologies: Hands-on experience with caching solutions such as Varnish.
- Web Serving: Proficiency with NGINX and HAProxy.
- Cloud Platforms: Working knowledge of AWS, GCP, or similar cloud technologies.
- Scripting Languages: Proficiency in Python or comparable scripting languages for automation and tooling.
- Security Protocols: Understanding of SSL Certificates and TLS implementation.
- Configuration Management: Experience with Ansible, AWX, or equivalent configuration management tools.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected annual salary range for this position is approximately $35–$40 per hour, depending on factors such as geographic location, relevant work experience, skills, and qualifications.
