As a forward-thinking organization operating in a fully remote environment across the United States, arenaflex partners with forward-looking companies to transform raw information into meaningful, actionable intelligence. Our team is composed of dedicated analysts, engineers, and storytellers who understand that every dataset tells a story, and we are committed to helping business leaders read those stories with confidence.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytically curious, and technically capable individual to join our growing information team. If you are someone who thrives on solving puzzles hidden within large datasets, loves designing clean dashboards, and finds satisfaction in ensuring that every figure tells the truth, then this opportunity at arenaflex is built for you. This is a remote, permanent position where you will have the chance to work with cutting-edge business intelligence tools, partner with cross-functional stakeholders, and make a measurable impact on the way our organization understands its performance.

Position Summary

The Data Specialist at arenaflex will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data models that empower business leaders to make informed, data-driven decisions. Working closely with our technology partners, business analysts, and management teams, you will gather requirements, develop scalable data pipelines, and transform complex datasets into clear, compelling visualizations. This is an entry-level to early-career opportunity ideal for someone with hands-on experience in Power BI, SQL, and ETL processes who is ready to grow their career in a supportive, fully remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting and Dashboard Development

  • Create new reports, modify existing reports, and deliver ad-hoc reporting solutions in support of operational procedures and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Build intuitive, interactive, and visually compelling dashboards using Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Excel that bring clarity to complex business questions.
  • Apply data storytelling principles to design visualizations that are not only accurate but also impactful, ensuring each chart, table, and KPI communicates a clear narrative.
  • Automate existing business processes wherever possible and enhance exception-based reporting to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.

Data Quality and Integrity

  • Develop and enforce robust data quality standards, controls, and validation procedures to safeguard data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility across all reporting assets.
  • Validate data accuracy by cross-referencing information against established standards and approved sources.
  • Research data errors, identify root causes, and remediate poor-quality data to maintain the trustworthiness of the organization’s reporting ecosystem.
  • Critically review information gathered from multiple sources, identify discrepancies, and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.

Data Pipeline and Architecture

  • Design, build, and maintain new data pipelines that move information efficiently from source systems into the organization’s data warehouse.
  • Generate, maintain, and enhance scalable data pipelines and data architecture capable of supporting both everyday operational reports and high-level executive metrics.
  • Collaborate with IT and business analysts to investigate, research, and integrate new data variables through structured data discovery efforts.

Business Partnership and Requirements Gathering

  • Work closely with management, business analysts, and department leaders to gather, document, and validate business reporting requirements — from routine operational files to executive-level KPIs.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all reporting requirements and secure formal business sign-offs to ensure alignment across stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the organization’s Data Governance program by keeping the data dictionary, policies, and procedures current and accurate.
  • Analyze and validate that existing metrics are effective, and provide thoughtful feedback to department leaders on trends that require attention, intervention, or further investigation.

Analytical Insights

  • Analyze large datasets to identify meaningful patterns, trends, and anomalies that yield actionable business results.
  • Apply statistical analysis techniques to problem-solve complex challenges, particularly those involving high-volume data sets.
  • Support the organization’s strategic objectives by surfacing insights that help teams understand performance, identify opportunities, and mitigate risks.

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience performing in-depth data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence work.
  • Solid, demonstrable experience working with Microsoft Power BI, including the ability to build polished reports and dashboards from scratch.
  • Proficiency working with Power BI features such as Datasets, Measures, Filters, Calculated Columns, Transformations, Conditional Formatting, DAX Queries, and Relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge of DAX, SQL, and M Code (Power Query formula language).
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries, generate custom reports, and perform sophisticated data analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Power BI Dataflows, or comparable big data integration platforms.
  • Solid data modeling experience, including the use of star schema design or other proven dimensional modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power Query.
  • Working knowledge of Smartsheets or comparable collaborative work management tools.
  • A demonstrated ability to drive projects forward with strong effort, ensuring the timely and complete delivery of work and adherence to deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying statistical analysis techniques to large, complex data sets to solve business problems.
  • Exposure to big data platforms, cloud-based data warehouses (such as Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or AWS Redshift), or modern data integration frameworks.
  • Background in contributing to or supporting a formal Data Governance program.
  • Familiarity with Agile or other iterative project management methodologies.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Statistics, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
