About the Role

As a Remote Database Analyst at arenaflex, you will serve as a critical bridge between business requirements and technical execution. You will provide hands-on support across multiple SQL Server database environments ranging from low to moderate complexity, ensuring that data assets remain secure, performant, and highly available. Key Responsibilities

• Database Administration & Maintenance: Perform routine SQL Server maintenance activities including file upkeep, integrity checks, index management, and configuration adjustments to ensure optimal database health across all supported environments.
• Backup & Recovery Operations: Manage and monitor comprehensive backup strategies encompassing full backups, differential backups, and transaction log backups. Execute disaster recovery procedures with precision to safeguard critical business data at arenaflex.
• Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve common database issues, analyze root causes, and implement sustainable fixes that prevent recurrence. Respond promptly to database alerts and performance degradation events.
• SQL Job Management: Create, schedule, monitor, and maintain SQL Server Agent jobs to automate recurring administrative tasks, data workflows, and reporting processes that keep arenaflex operations running smoothly.
• Performance Tuning & Optimization: Apply database sizing, capacity planning, and performance tuning best practices to enhance query response times, reduce bottlenecks, and improve overall system efficiency.
• Patching & Version Management: Execute SQL Server patching activities following established change management protocols, ensuring environments remain secure and up to date.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with application development teams, infrastructure engineers, and business stakeholders to gather database requirements, design solutions, and deliver SQL database implementations that meet evolving business needs.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices to support team knowledge continuity at arenaflex.
• Cloud & Automation Support: Contribute to cloud migration initiatives involving Azure IaaS and PaaS SQL technologies, and develop PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive administrative tasks.

Essential Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and hands-on professional experience will also be considered.
• Database Operations Experience: Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve common database issues, perform disaster recovery tasks, and execute routine maintenance activities across SQL Server environments.
• Backup & Restore Expertise: Hands-on experience with full, differential, and transaction log backups, as well as restoration procedures in production or staging environments.
• SQL Server Patching: Familiarity with applying patches, cumulative updates, and service packs to SQL Server instances while following organizational change management processes.
• Performance Tuning Knowledge: Understanding of database sizing principles, query optimization techniques, and performance tuning methodologies.
