About the Data Ventures Team at arenaflex

The Data Ventures team at arenaflex is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our rapidly growing marketplace ecosystem. We develop technologies that assist with customer acquisition, merchant onboarding, and ongoing partner engagement, while also ensuring a smooth and consistent experience for both buyers and sellers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead small, focused engineering groups of three to five engineers, including offshore partners, by providing clear direction, technical guidance, and mentorship throughout assigned engineering projects.
• Identify short-term and long-term technical solutions, define realistic timelines, and assess proposed architectures to ensure alignment with business goals and arenaflex standards.
• Drive the execution of multiple strategies and initiatives by gathering user and operational requirements, translating them into actionable technical specifications, and delivering high-quality, production-ready solutions.
• Participate in medium-to-large scale, complex, cross-functional projects by investigating requirements, interpreting design documents and product specifications, and writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Conduct thorough unit testing, manage bug fixes, and proactively address open issues to prevent recurring defects, ensuring on-time delivery and seamless hand-offs.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to refine project plans, remove execution obstacles, and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
• Define and enforce performance standards, measure progress against goals, and adjust execution strategies as needed, while demonstrating adaptability and supporting a culture of continuous learning.
• Implement modern engineering patterns, perform detailed design and code reviews, and champion the adoption of best practices across the team.
• Promote and uphold arenaflex’s policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and guiding team members in their application.
• Evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of current designs, programs, and initiatives by consulting with business partners, managers, and key stakeholders, and by recommending improvements that enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Participate in and support community outreach events, representing arenaflex as a responsible and engaged corporate citizen.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Solid hands-on experience with Hadoop, Hive, and Apache Spark.
• Proven experience building highly scalable Big Data solutions and ETL environments.
• Demonstrated coding proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Scala or Python.
• Expertise in cloud computing platforms, with strong preference for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure.
• A strong commitment to code quality, system reliability, and performance optimization.
• Experience with integration tools such as Automic or Apache Airflow.
• Proficiency in data modeling, data migration protocols, and distributed computing principles.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Ability to design robust data architectures for data warehouses, data lakes, or end-to-end pipeline solutions.
• Strong skills in prioritization, cost-benefit analysis, and decision-making across a wide base of users, stakeholders, products, and services.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Leadership potential, including the ability to mentor senior software engineers and manage technical relationships with external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Databricks is a strong plus.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB, as well as RDBMS platforms like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Practical experience with messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka.
• Demonstrated ability to improve team efficiency by refining software development lifecycles, requirement intake processes, and effort estimation techniques.
• Strong creative thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Two or more years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics is highly desirable.
