As a remote‑first organization, arenaflex empowers its talent to work from anywhere while staying deeply connected to a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative culture.

Why You’ll Love This Role

Joining the arenaflex family means you will be at the heart of a data‑centric transformation that fuels strategic decision‑making across the entire airline. You will:

  • Help design, build, and operate cutting‑edge data platforms that power real‑time analytics for flight operations, revenue management, and customer experience.

  • Gain exposure to a diverse technology stack that includes Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Enjoy a flexible, fully remote work environment while still feeling the pulse of a global enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform Design & Implementation

  • Partner with source data application teams and product owners to design, implement, and maintain data pipelines that ingest, transform, and surface data for analytics and reporting.
  • Build and manage cloud‑native data storage solutions such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Blob Storage, and Snowflake, ensuring high availability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop and optimize streaming pipelines using Azure Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, and Databricks to enable near‑real‑time insights.

End‑to‑End Data Lifecycle Management

  • Lead the full data lifecycle—from ingestion, staging, and cleansing to enrichment, cataloging, and consumption—across on‑premise and cloud environments.
  • Implement robust CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform) to automate testing, deployment, and monitoring of data solutions.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to embed data governance, lineage, and privacy controls (e.g., Azure Purview, Informatica Axon) into every pipeline.

Performance Tuning & Reliability

  • Monitor and fine‑tune data pipelines for throughput, latency, and cost, applying best practices in partitioning, indexing, and resource scaling.
  • Establish alerting and incident response processes using Azure Monitor, Grafana, and custom notification mechanisms.
  • Drive continuous improvement of coding standards, documentation, and peer‑review processes.

Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and data analysts, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and retrospectives, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Represent the data engineering team in cross‑functional forums, advocating for data‑centric solutions and best practices.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands‑on data engineering experience building large‑scale data pipelines using agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • SQL Proficiency: At least 3 years of experience writing complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Programming Skills: Strong command of Python, Shell/Unix scripting, and familiarity with Java or Scala is a plus.
  • Cloud Platforms: Demonstrated experience with Azure services (Data Lake, Data Factory, Databricks, Event Hub, Synapse) and/or equivalent cloud data platforms.
  • Data Storage Technologies: Hands‑on experience with Snowflake, ADLS, Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, or similar data warehouses.
  • CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Advanced certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or equivalent.
  • Experience with BI and visualization tools: Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, or Looker.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks (Informatica Axon, Collibra, or Azure Purview).
  • Familiarity with big‑data processing frameworks like Spark, Flink, or Hadoop.
  • Previous exposure to the airline or transportation industry, understanding of flight operations data, revenue management, or logistics.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex data problems, identify root causes, and propose scalable solutions.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working in multidisciplinary teams, fostering trust and shared ownership.
