Key Responsibilities

As an OT Systems Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of complex control system projects, from initial concept through deployment and field support. Your primary duties will include:

  • System Design and Development: Create, plan, test, integrate, and deploy system software and hardware solutions for advanced automation projects.
  • Field Support and Site Visits: Lead on-site visits to assess system performance, evaluate installations, and provide comprehensive project support to ensure operational excellence.
  • Application Testing: Rigorously test applications to confirm that designs meet specified requirements, address business needs, and align with industry best practices.
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee end-to-end project management activities, including scope definition, resource allocation, planning, initiation, startup, build, and deployment phases.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with vendors, contractors, electrical and mechanical specialists, and local cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives related to functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Issue Identification and Resolution: Proactively identify issues requiring expert or developer intervention and escalate them promptly.
  • Communication and Reporting: Maintain clear communication with supervisory teams, providing regular updates on project progress and ensuring effective execution of solutions.
  • Data Analysis and Benchmarking: Collect and analyze data from tested solutions, comparing results against benchmarking data to validate effectiveness.
  • Field Verification: Conduct on-site verification to ensure installed solutions meet both customer and organizational installation standards.
  • Vendor and Specialist Management: Manage vendors and specialists developing workstation, server, and embedded system programs for complex control systems.
  • Team Coordination: Follow up formally through status meetings and informally to manage team productivity, project schedules, and deliverables.
  • System Integration Support: Provide field support for system integration whenever required.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with internal teams to determine project requirements from overall system designs and identify appropriate solutions, including software, hardware, and process considerations.
  • Design Review Participation: Attend design review meetings with internal and external stakeholders to identify business requirements and system specifications.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States, including U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work authorization.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, with an 80–90% travel requirement.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex technical projects from inception through deployment.

Preferred Qualifications and Technical Skills

  • Experience with robotics system development and integrations.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, Rust, and MatLab.
  • Extensive experience working in Linux-based operating system environments.
  • Background in robotics, material handling system design, development, applications, or integration.
  • Familiarity with current security protocols, standards, and best practices in industrial automation.

Work Schedule and Structure

This is a full-time management-level position classified at internal grade 20E. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 40+ hours per week and a flexible schedule to accommodate project demands. Given the nature of the role, flexibility in working hours and availability for weekend work when necessary are essential.
