Public Works Maintenance Worker
- Install, test, repair, or replace services, lines, valves, meters, hydrants and backflow devices
- Operate forklift, tractor loader, tractor mower, brush chipper, truck with or without trailer use a variety of portable power tools and a variety of hand tools
- Raise valve boxes and manholes
- Perform asphalt or cement maintenance and repair
- Assist with street striping and painting
- Perform drainage pipe and ditch maintenance
- Perform various semi-skilled and unskilled work in maintenance of sewage collection system
- Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance including mowing, weeding, pruning trees and shrubs, and picking up litter
- Perform light janitorial and maintenance duties in City restrooms and buildings
- Set up for meetings, conventions, classes, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Appropriate City and OSHA safety procedures involved in construction and repair work
- Safety procedures when using cones, or barricades for traffic diversion
- Public Health and Safety standards
- Equipment operating techniques and procedures
- Asphalt or cement installation and repair; pipe sizes, uses, and applications
- Hydrant and valve maintenance and repair
- Interact effectively with the public and employees
- Operate all required vehicles and equipment, such as forklift tractor/loader, brush chipper tractor/mower, truck with or without trailer
- Use a variety portable power tools
- Use a variety of hand tools
- Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying
- Typical education would include a high school diploma, or equivalent
- Some previous relevant experience
- Possession of the appropriate California driver's license, or ability to acquire one within ten days of appointment
