Position

Operator – V, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Supervisor, Open Pit, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

•    Safe and efficient operation of mining vehicles in the transportation of materials to meet targets. •    Conduct pre-trip and post-trip walk around safety inspections of equipment and report any deficiencies to the Supervisor. •    Log maintenance or concerns while operating equipment, and discontinue use if maintenance issue impact safe working operation. •    Communicate effectively with team members via two-way radios, hand signals, and other required forms of communication. •    Participate in daily safety toolbox meetings to promote compliance to B2Gold Nunavut's safety policies and procedures. •    Operate in all types of weather, including rain, fog, and winter conditions. •    Assist in civil earthworks and construction responsibilities when required and assigned.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

•    Prior experience operating heavy equipment, including light vehicles with 24' trailers, haul trucks, wiggle wagons, or related equipment in construction or mining environment. •    Completion of Grade 10 with demonstrated capacity for numeracy, writing, reading and communication at that level. •    Valid unrestricted Class 5 driver license preferred; Heavy Equipment Operator ticket. •    Prior experience working in a remote setting with limited access to resources.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $107,484.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $39.00 and overtime rate of $58.50) in a work year.
