Associate Director of Institutional Giving

Position: Associate Director of Institutional Giving FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Remote in CA, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, MD, MA, MI, MN, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OK, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 Genesys Works is a national leader in providing pathways to career success for high school students in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experiences, and impactful relationships. Currently in 8 cities across the country, we are positioning ourselves for future growth and have an exciting opportunity for a strategic business leader to join the National team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving Working in collaboration with other leaders and colleagues, they will be responsible for the following: Duties and Responsibilities Grant Writing, Reporting, and Stewardship

  • Lead all grant writing for institutional funders, including drafting proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, stewardship updates, and supporting materials; drafts are reviewed

and finalized by the Senior Director.

  • Lead all institutional funder reporting, including narrative and data integration, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with funder expectations.
  • Manage and execute the stewardship matrix across the national donor base to ensure consistent, high-quality engagement touchpoints.
  • Serve as project manager for institutional deliverables, coordinating internally with Program, M&E, IT, Finance, and Communications to gather inputs and ensure deadlines are met.

Institutional Prospecting and Pipeline Development

  • Conduct institutional prospect research (corporate and foundation) to build and maintain a strong, diversified pipeline supporting national initiatives, new site launches, and feasibility market development.
  • Prepare research briefs, funder profiles, and recommendations to support the Senior Director, CDO, CEO, and Board in cultivating new relationships.
  • Monitor funding trends and opportunities to help position Genesys Works proactively in the institutional funding landscape.

Development Operations and Data Leadership

  • Lead development and management of the Grant Resources Library, ensuring organization-wide access to high-quality proposal language, data, and materials.
  • Serve as data lead for the development team, maintaining accurate grant records, updating dashboards and tracking tools, and sharing key updates and insights from M&E.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the development team, including scheduling, document preparation, and project coordination as needed.

Communications and Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Support development-related communications, including content preparation for newsletters, funder updates, and donor-facing materials (e.g., VIP newsletter).
  • Collaborate with Communications Team and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on messaging and narrative consistency.
  • Assist in preparing materials for the CEO, CDO, board members, and other leaders to support development activities.

Individual Giving & Volunteer Engagement Support

  • Support Individual Giving through project management for donor acquisition campaigns, drafting materials, and coordinating stewardship initiatives.
  • Support national engagement efforts related to site volunteerism, helping to coordinate volunteer opportunities and associated communications.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required.
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, and institutional fundraising, with demonstrated success in submitting proposals resulting in awarded grants.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting compelling proposals and managing complex reporting requirements.
  • Experience in project management and cross-functional coordination.
  • Experience conducting funder research and managing stewardship systems strongly preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information for multiple audiences.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate information across teams.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Familiarity with fundraising CRMs (e.g., Salesforce) and comfort managing data and tracking systems.
  • Ability to identify and cultivate prospective funders.
  • Experience designing or implementing stewardship practices is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
