Job Summary

As a Substitute Teacher at Prospect Ridge Academy, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the continuity of our students' education. You'll work closely with our teaching staff to implement pre-planned lessons, maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, and foster a culture of academic excellence and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement effective lessons in the absence of the regular instructor, adapting to the needs of students across various ability levels.
• Maintain a positive and engaging learning environment, responding to the individual needs of students and promoting accountability.
• Review lesson plans, take attendance, and follow established safety procedures and protocols.
• Model and foster independent thinking skills, creative problem-solving, and abstract reasoning in our students.
• Facilitate resolution of problems that may arise with students or parents, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
• Conduct an organized and professional classroom, maintaining confidentiality as required by FERPA.
• Execute effective classroom management through clear expectations and positive relationships.
• Demonstrate instructional and technological competency, adhering to approved communication pathways.
• Follow policies established by the Prospect Ridge Academy Board of Directors, Adams 12 School District, and Colorado State mandated school guidelines.
• Create a safe and conducive learning environment, keeping all children under supervision at all times.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulation.
• Leave detailed notes for the teacher on any issues experienced during the day.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• A valid teaching or substitute certification. If you don't have a substitute teaching license, we'll support you in obtaining one through the Colorado Department of Education.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict management skills, problem-solving skills, and demonstrated leadership abilities.
• The ability to read, write, and interpret various documents, including rules, policies, and assessment documents.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate tasks with minimal supervision.
• The ability to work with limited supervision, be self-motivated, and use sound judgment in a variety of situations.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Experience working in a similar educational setting.
• Knowledge of and experience with educational technology and digital tools.
• A proven track record of creating engaging and inclusive learning environments.
